I'm Steven CW Taylor,
I am Steven CW Taylor, also known as "The Time Thief™," and I stand firmly rooted in the cultural fabric of Philadelphia’s Germantown section. I am recognized as a luminary in the arena of contemporary fine art photography. My lens, keenly focused on chronicling my contemporary life, paints vivid narratives for posterity, ensuring that today’s stories resonate in the annals of time.
As the visionary founder and chief curator of Ubuntu Fine Art, Philadelphia's premier Black-owned Fine Art Photography Gallery, I have etched a pioneering pathway in the realm of visual arts. My gallery is a manifestation of my philosophy—coined as the “Ubuntu Way”—which emphasizes a photographic approach deeply rooted in humanity, interconnectedness, and shared experiences.
My illustrious exhibitions, including the notable “Synergy” and “The Time Thief,” have caught the eye and accolades of prestigious platforms like The Philadelphia Inquirer, Chestnut Hill Local, and Billy Penn at WHYY, to name a few. In addition to these accomplishments, I have been lauded by the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists and was selected for the prestigious 2023 Mural Arts Black Artist Cohort.
Born and raised in East Germantown, my passion extends beyond just photography. I am a fervent advocate for art education, ensuring my community stays deeply connected to the cultural richness the Arts offers. Ubuntu Fine Art, my gallery, stands as a testament to this commitment, serving as a gateway for the community to explore and appreciate the broader world of art beyond their immediate environments. This diverse array of experiences has enriched my perspective, shaping me not just as a photographer, but as a storyteller for the ages.
With a degree in Criminal Justice and having spent over a decade as a Senior Software Engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton, my journey is marked by a unique blend of disciplines. This combination has honed my eye for intricate details and fostered a deep-rooted love for storytelling through visual arts. It is this interplay of technology and artistry that underpins my approach to photography and printmaking, infusing my work with a distinctive quality that captures more than a moment; it captures a story.
